Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the InspectLog application and this related website (together, the “Service”). By downloading, installing, or using InspectLog, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What InspectLog is

InspectLog is a personal productivity / field-notes tool intended to help solo and independent home inspectors capture voice notes, organize them by Property and Client, structure zone findings and repair estimates, export field work papers, and manage personal reminders. InspectLog is not a licensed signed inspection report platform, is not a Spectora-style cloud checklist franchise system, does not provide automatic electronic seals or certified multi-point compliance reports in the current product, and does not provide purchase, valuation, or legal advice.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) and capable of entering a binding agreement. The Service is designed primarily for adult professionals in the home inspection trade who choose to use a personal memo tool.

3. Your professional responsibilities

You acknowledge and agree that:

4. Account and access

The current version of InspectLog does not require an InspectLog-hosted user account. Access is through the Apple App Store / Apple platforms under your Apple ID and device. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and Apple account.

5. License

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use InspectLog on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Use / Apple Media Services Terms and any applicable Licensed Application End User License Agreement (standard Apple EULA unless we provide a custom EULA).

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, reverse engineer, or create derivative works of the Service except to the extent such restriction is prohibited by law.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

7. User content

“User Content” means audio, text, property and client metadata, zone notes, findings, repair items, photos, reminders, to-dos, and other materials you create or store in InspectLog. As between you and us, you retain ownership of your User Content. You grant us only the limited technical rights needed to operate features you enable on your device (for example, writing a reminder to Apple Calendar when you turn that setting on). We do not claim ownership of your inspection notes.

8. Third-party services

InspectLog relies on Apple frameworks and services (including but not limited to microphone access, Speech recognition, notifications, EventKit for Calendar/Reminders, Maps where used, and App Store distribution). Your use of those services is also subject to Apple’s terms and policies. We are not responsible for outages, accuracy limits, or policy changes of third-party platforms.

Speech recognition quality may vary (accents, noise, field terminology). Transcripts may contain errors. You should review important text before relying on it.

If you enable optional AI organization, you also agree to the terms of the AI provider you configure. We do not operate those models and are not responsible for their outputs.

9. Optional paid features

The Service may include free local recording and organization features, with optional paid features (for example, Pro unlock for unlimited active properties, full field work paper PDF, private backup, or AI-assisted organization when using your own key). Pricing, one-time unlocks, and refund rules are disclosed in the App Store product page and/or in-app purchase sheets and are governed by Apple’s payment terms as applicable.

10. Privacy

Our handling of information is described in the Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT NOTIFICATIONS, TRANSCRIPTS, PDF EXPORTS, OR AI DRAFTS WILL BE COMPLETE OR ACCURATE.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE AND OUR AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR INSPECTLOG IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted.

Without limiting the above, we are not liable for missed appointments, disclosure failures, licensing disputes, regulatory actions, repair cost shortfalls, or professional disputes arising from reliance on the Service.

13. Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless us and our affiliates from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of your User Content, your misuse of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or applicable professional duties — except to the extent caused by our willful misconduct.

14. Termination

You may stop using InspectLog at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend or stop providing the Service or updates if required by law, platform rules, or if we discontinue the product. Sections that by their nature should survive (including ownership of User Content, disclaimers, limitations, and indemnity) will survive termination.

15. Changes to the Service and Terms

We may update the Service and these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change when we post revisions. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by applicable law (without regard to conflict-of-law rules), except that mandatory consumer-protection laws of your place of residence may still apply where they cannot be waived, and Apple’s App Store terms may also apply to distribution. Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction, subject to any non-waivable rights you may have.

If you need governing law or venue adjusted for App Store distribution in a specific region, contact us before relying on this section commercially.
